Join a Grant Evaluation Committee

Committees are formed annually for each of the three Grant Evaluation focus areas and members have the opportunity to participate in the grant-making process by reviewing proposals and attending site visits for organizations applying to receive grant funding. If you are interested in learning more about the non-profits in the community you may want to consider participating in one of the Grant Evaluation Committees.  Our committees begin forming in April and evaluate grant applications from August through November each year.

Our Grant Evaluation Committees are focused on three primary areas and include Education, Family and Health & Wellness:

• Education Committee - will focus on charitable initiatives that advance learning opportunities and provide educational opportunities to both children and adults.

• Health & Wellness Committee - will focus on charitable initiatives that positively impact the mental or physical health and wellness of people in our community.

• Family Committee - will focus on charitable initiatives that strengthen and enhance the lives of children and families. If you are interested in becoming more involved in the 100 Women Charitable Foundation's grant evaluation process be sure to join early, and let us know you would like to get more involved by participating on a Grant Evaluation Committee.

How to Become a Committee Member

100 WomenIf you are interested in learning more about philanthropy and the nonprofits in our community, please indicate this on your membership form that you would like to serve on a committee and to indicate which ones are of interest.

Women who do not have the time or opportunity to participate in the Committee process can still be involved in other committees and by voting at the annual meeting where a finalists from each Grant Evaluation Committee will make a presentation to the entire membership.

If you wish to serve on a Grant Evaluation Committee, you will be asked to complete and sign a form stating that you have read and understand our Committee Participation Policy. This disclosure form will ask you to determine if you have a Strong Affiliation with any of the nonprofits submitting a grant application. If there is potential for a conflict of interest within your assigned committee, you may be asked to select another committee on which to serve.

All committee members will receive orientation and training about our grant-making process, and will have the opportunity to evaluate grant proposals, make site visits and help determine the finalists for our annual voting.

Email is essential to the regular communication of the committees and to efficient distribution of grant materials. Email distribution helps minimize overhead costs. If you do not have access to email, this does not preclude participation on a committee, but communication may not be as timely as for others.
